Unfortunately, the publication of the first edition contained more than a few grammar bugs and verb tense confusions. As a writer I was too close to the work to do a decent editing job; I also didn’t abide by Stephen King’s sage practice of ‘putting a finished book in a drawer for six months before doing a final edit.’ I’m happy to say that these issues have been addressed by a freelance editor and I want to thank her and all who privately and publicly communicated these errors.
Over 1,000 people have kindly purchased the book! The overwhelming majority of comments I’ve received, both on Amazon in the form of reviews and the private notes I’ve received via email or from Google Plus and Facebook followers, have been very complimentary. I’ve included a random collection of those comments in a one-page addition.
As I stated above, the manuscript was edited for readability and grammar and I revised several chapters to reflect my current experience. These are not marked or set apart so as to improve the overall experience for first-time readers. As I reread the book, I decided to change a few sections to reflect my evolving views as well as correct some language that I wasn’t comfortable with.
Since the initial publication, I’ve created more online resources including pages for TPB on Facebook and Google Plus, the Practical Buddhism Community on Google Plus. These are described in more detail on The Practical Buddhist Online page in the book.
I’m please to have finished this project and I look forward to interacting with those you who may be new to TPB as well as those who have patiently waited for the revised edition.
