Develop the Inner Strength You Need Working For a Type A Boss

If you work for a ‘Type A’ boss or work with a bunch of similar personalities, you’re in the right place.  Type A’s can really be challenging to work for or just be around, especially if your a more sensitive Type B or C personality.

In his book, Type A Behavior: It’s Diagnosis and Treatment, Meyer Freidman, MD characterized Type A personalities as follows:

  • They operate with a free-floating hostility
  • They’re often high-achieving workaholics
  • They’re highly status-conscious
  • They’re often short-fused with a competitive drive

Type A people think they run the world, but they don’t. They react to it.

Where does that leave you?

You and I both know that it’s the Type B and sometimes Type C personalities that get the job done. Our Type A bosses take the credit and we’re left thinking…hey, what just happened?

I worked for and around Type A personalities for a decade and it nearly killed me. As an empathic Type B, I know only too well what you’re going through and how you feel. I know what it feels like to have hard-charging bosses treat you like crap and dump piles of work on your desk accompanied by impossible deadlines.

I know what it’s like to never be heard, and seen only as a means to an end.

Empathic and sensitive Type B people are the backbone of any corporation but they have different needs. I created Zen-Journal.com to offer folks just like you a healthier alternative to thriving at work even if you have to work for a Type boss.

Combined with periodic mindfulness check-ins during your workday, your mind/body awareness will increase, your physiological stress hormones will be triggered less often that is more healthy overall.

To Make It in a Type A World, You Need To Be Strong

But not like a hard-charging Type A; Instead, you need to become what I call a Mindful Warrior. You may not be the one leading the charge, but you see how the battle will be won. You watch the Generals parade around flashing their medals, but as a Mindful Warrior you intuitively know the best course of action to take.

Instead of barking orders, you use reason and counsel. You approach issues not with emotional irrationality, but with resolve and calm.

You become a warrior not through brute force, but through the cultivation of internal strength.

Mindfulness and meditation practices will become your secret weapons. You’ll engage in battle on a daily basis in the world of business, but you’ll not burn out or surrender and you’ll remain steadfast and calm in the heat of the battle.
